Hudson Valley Estates


1730 - Clermont. Built by Robert R. Livingston, Jr. Burned in 1775 & rebuilt.
1737 - Van Alen house, Kinderhook, built by Luykas Van Alen
1797 - Lindenwald mansion, Kinderhook, built by Peter Van Ness
1804 - Boscobel mansion built by States Dyckman in Crugers, NY. Moved in 1950's
1804 - Montgomery Place. Janet Livingston Montgomery. Architect A.J. Davis
1811 - Robert Jenkins house, Hudson, built by Jenkins
1835 - Sunnyside, Tarrytown, Washington Irving. Built around an existing cottage
1838 - Lyndhurst, Tarrytown, General William Paulding. Architect A.J. Davis
1839 - Lindenwald, Kinderhook. Bought by Martin Van Buren and expanded
1845 - Springwood, Hyde Park. Bought by Josiah Wheeler. Expanded it and developed the grounds
1847 - Morse purchased Georgian-style mansion. Converted to a Tuscan Villa. Architect A.J. Davis.
1867 - Springwood, Hyde Park. Bought by James & Rebecca Howland Roosevelt
1880 - Lyndhurst, Tarrytown, bought by Jay Gould
1882 - Springwood, Hyde Park. Roosevelts renovated the house into a 17 room Italian villa.
1888 - Wildersstein, Rhinebeck. Rebuilt for the Suckley family
1895 - Mills mansion. Built around a mansion inherited by him. 65 rooms
1895 - Vanderbilt Mansion, Hyde Park, Frederick Vanderbilt.
1910 - Belvedere masion, Tarrytown, built by Florence and Casper Whitney.
1913 - Kykuit, Pocantico Hills, built by Rockefeller family
1915 - Springwood, Hyde Park. Expanded by Sara Roosevelt to 35 room Georgian Revival
1920's - Clermont rebuilt as a Colonial Revival home (as it is today)
1926 - Val-Kill, Hyde Park. Built for Eleanor Roosevelt on the Roosevelt estate.
