VERMONT
St. Anne's Shrine
92 St Anne's Rd,
Isle La Motte, VT
802-928-3362
Saint Anne's Shrine is located on Isle LaMotte, a quiet island on Lake Champlain in Vermont. It was developed by the Society of Saint Edmund and has been maintained by them for 100 years..
From its earliest occupation by the white man, the territory now known as the State of Vermont had been placed under the protection of St. Anne, the mother of the Blessed Mother. As early as 1666, the French erected a Fort and Chapel on Isle La Motte as their southernmost fort against hostile Indian attacks on the settlements in Montreal and Quebec. This was dedicated under the invocation of “la bonne Sainte Anne”. It was here that the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass was offered for the first known time in the Northeast.
In addition to Saint Anne's Shrine there is a Way of the Cross and many rustic grottos dedicated to the Saints.

The shrine is located on a hill with views of Lake Mascoma.
Early settlers to the area called this patch of heaven "Chosen Vale". Mascoma's blue waters mirror the birch, pine, and maple that populate the surrounding hills and mountains and give this valley a unique beauty the year 'round.
Besides the chapel, pilgrims may meditate at the facsimile of the Apparition, the Rosary Walk, the Peace Walk, Mary's Garden, or anywhere on the Shrine's thirth acre property.
